hokey smoke, Bullwinkle!

We do not have bats in our belfry (which is what I would have renamed the attic if we had).
We have at least one nest of flying squirrels (aka sugar gliders), though. And one of them popped up and looked at me and he was SOOOOO CUUUUUUUUUUTE! The guy said that if we wait a couple of weeks, the babies (of which this was one) will be old enough so that when they are live trapped and relocated, they'll be able to survive on their own. And then another guy will crawl all over the roof and seal up the little cracks through which they entered -- we have a LOT of gables, and there are small holes where some of them weren't seamed to each other properly.
(thankfully, they're not harmful, so waiting a bit doesn't mean damage)

Date: 2006-12-11 12:18 am (UTC)And he said they weren't harmful, eh?
Ha. Just you wait until they're grown and there's a FULL MOON.
Then they transform into huge hairy, bloodsucking...um...well you'll see. That cute look? It's a ruse! A ruse I say. They'll swoop down and...erm...well, you'll see.
So take pictures now while they're small. And post them for us to see. :)

Date: 2006-12-11 02:57 am (UTC)I wonder where the sugar gliders came from... they're not native, and there'd have to be a pair for them to have babies and all...

Date: 2006-12-11 02:59 am (UTC)I hadn't realized that they lived over so much of the country! Cute little things, aren't they?

Date: 2006-12-11 03:02 am (UTC)I can tell you he was adorable. I'm pretty sure my camera phone won't do a thing, but I'll see what I can do.
Just remember...

Date: 2006-12-11 05:43 am (UTC)But, he was wrong when he said that they're the same thing. Sugar gliders come from Australia.... and they're marsupials (babies in pouch and all :-)
The flying squirrels are rodents, just like every other squirrel... no pouch... though they do look just about as cute :-)
