Holiday goodness

We just flew home from a quickie Winter Weekend in NYC, and boy are my arms cold!
We arrived around noon on Saturday at the hotel on the Upper East Side, and headed around the corner by way of a small bit of Central Park to the Met to see what there was to be seen. Indeed, there was a lot. :) I think we covered about a fifth of the museum pretty well -- saw the Medieval and Byzantine sections, and the FABULOUS angel tree and creche, and then upstairs to the European gallery and quickly past the photography to the 19th century paintings, and then zipped right past lots of Egyptian stuff to get to the basement to see the collection of Clothing Made From Animal Parts. I catch shit about my feathered hats all the time, but I don't have any with entire birds on them, thankyewverymuch.
Headed over to the hotel, now that our room was ready, and relaxed there for a few hours. Zoomed to 59th to Bloomies for a quick bit of shopping, and then down to the Old Town Bar and Grill for some amazingly tasty burgers and cider and appetizery goodness.
Sunday morning, we arrived at St. Patrick's just as the Mass Before The 10:15 was letting out, and were able to get seats most of the way down (I was concerned, because it was SRO at the back of the sanctuary when we arrived). It's odd having TV monitors doing live coverage, but very nice for the parts we couldn't see well. The service was formal...not as traditional as the Latin Mass we're used to, but not as relaxed as most churches. Very lovely -- I'm delighted we went!
After church, we decided to walk the 27 blocks back, with a block or two to the left and right now and again. Picked up a slice and a soda for breakfast (god, I want more!), looked at lovely shops, enjoyed the buildings and the people and the dogs, and sacked out for a bit back at the nice warm hotel. In the afternoon, we went to the Frick -- I don't think I've ever seen a more astonishing and concise collection of art -- and room after room of ROOMS...the architecture was amazing.
The only thing to top the Frick was mmmmmmmmmmmeatballs at Vincent's. Oh.My.God. We ate until we were full like ticks.
And today...we lazed around the hotel until we had to check out, then caught a cab over to LGA where our first flight was cancelled, the Magic FAA Badge got us out of an enormous line and priority passes to the first class check-in (sadly, not first class booking, but I'll take it) for our rescheduled flight, and then an uneventful and chilly wait until they would fling us on a plane back home. :)
THE END.
