Anyone have a pattern/technique for creating custom closures? I just finished a scarflet which needs buttons, and a funky hat out of Noro blossom in coordinating colors. I'd love to use the Noro to make closures -- preferably something oblong/oval, because the holes in the lace are about dime-sized, and I think that has the best change of success.

The Noro is mostly animal fiber, so it should be feltable.

The scarf has holes in the lace, so I have that part covered. I just need the closure part.

There are four holes across, each about a dime in diameter.

I know I came across a couple of *very* good directions on websites for 1800s frog closures a few years back. Unfortunately... wrong computer... and until I get a new computer, no access to the links I had. And I haven't made any myself in over 9 years, so can't remember the ins and outs.

If you want, I can check to see if anyone else on h-costume still has a bookmark for any of them.

No need for teachage -- I sweet talked a sailor with a knitting wife to tie me up some monkey fists...just need to mail him the yarn and a swatch of the lace for reference.

HOWEVER, we totally need to see each other. :) I'll be in Norfolk all week at Symposium...after that, will depend on interview schedules and stuff.

Somebody just recently put up a tutorial on how to make the knots out of icord for an oriental coat. I'll see if I can find it ...
