I saw the neurologist yesterday, and he confirmed that there is evidence of electrical damage along my ulnar nerve. He recommends surgery to fix it. We could wait to see if it improves on its own, but it's been since March with no improvement (and indeed some deterioration), plus there wasn't an event we could pinpoint that would have started it in the first place, so it's unlikely.

It will mean being out of work for at least two weeks, with my arm immobilized for at least one of those. There will be a scar on the inside of my arm, extending above and beyond the elbow. I'm lucky it's my left arm at least, but there's a lot I won't be able to do for what I'm sure will feel like an eternity.

I've emailed my boss to let him know, to see if there's any major project coming up that he hasn't told me about. It's bad enough I won't be able to work without that causing undue angst.

Oh, darlin, I am so sorry you will have to go through that! Is there anything that could be done to assist you? Maybe have one of those Dragon Speaking programs that types for you as you speak, used for folks who are unable to use their hands to use their computers? Might be cost prohibitive, dunno. (Not that you would WANT to be working while feeling of ass, of course.)

Wish you were closer, so I could come check in on you.

Hmm... internet... most of it you can manage one-handed, though it takes longer, and there are some things (like games) that you can't do (lol... I worked that one out when I was feeding my never-ending pit of a baby boy way back when).

Sudoku... guess you'll have to do it the old fashioned way... or USA today has a version you could do one-handed... even has a notes feature.

Dog, yeah... he might be a bit of a problem for a bit, for some reason they think we should get better or not notice faster than we do.

The cross-stitch... Do you have a stand you could use? If not, would you like to borrow one of mine for a while, while you recover? (I've a floor stand and a lap/table stand) I haven't had time to stitch in ... seems like forever now. And if I do find time (like August, if I'm lucky), it doesn't matter which one I use. It won't go as fast as with two hands, but you *can* do it, if you use a needle just a tad on the big side, so that it won't fall through when you poke it up from the bottom.

Good luck! (ouch! At least he thinks he can "make it better")
