I hope you get an answer before you get this one (unless you can check LJ from the store), but according to Google, the cartridges you need for the HP OfficeJet 6100 are: HP56 (black) and HP57 (tricolor)

Thanks! I could check email from there, but I'd already gotten Dana to webmonkey it for me just before I arrived.

AND, I found my printer model printed on the side of the package, so next time I needn't panic. :)
