faithellen: (EMS rescue cat)

We pulled duty on Friday night, and for the first time [livejournal.com profile] dfilove and I were at different stations. We all got together for dinner and then my crew stopped by an antique car gathering and oogled the muscle cars, and then we went for ice cream. During that, Dana's crew worked a seizure call. We were awakened around 1 to assist Dana (and at least one engine) with a two-car accident on 95, involving a roll-over. We got most of the way there, and were disregarded just before we made the U-turn to get to the scene (we were north, so we had to go south and then turn around), so we headed back to the station. We got another call, and just as we pulled out of the bay, Dana's ambulance came over the radio saying that they'd take it, so we backed up and went BACK to bed, and then later on there was one final call, and we got as far as the printer to pick up the sheet when Dana squirreled that one too.

Final score: Dana, 4 calls. Faith, 0 calls, cool cars, and ice cream. I win. (He will likely debate that point.)

Right after we got off duty Saturday, we went to Williamsburg to assist in the demolition of office space owned by the guy who is teaching Dana's medic class (and who taught us both Basic). We created much havoc with crowbars and sawzalls, and I scraped a butt-ton of wallpaper (because I'm anal and tedious like that). Everyone else helping out were teachers and staff, so we were the only students, and I parlayed my effort into a free pass into the Pediatric Advanced Life Support class this coming weekend. I'd pretty much decided to do it (read: given in to Dana's nagging), so this way it is freee!

We BARELY made it home Saturday because we were both bone-tired at that point. We collapsed and napped from 4-9pm, and then got up for a couple hours in an effort to sleep through the night, which was successful. The upset to our circadian rhythms left us really groggy and discombobolated yesterday.

Sunday, we watched Aeon Flux and Munich. AF was a very pretty movie of little plot, and Munich was excellent. Plus, pretty people in both of them!

And today, I chip away at a many-line to-do list, my efforts hampered by my mercurial boss. I'm down to 3 phone calls and one run of errands to 4 places.

....It was two ambulances, four state troopers, one rescue company, one truck company and the TSO, serving one rollover, one directionally reversed car and two fender benders.
