We had duty last night, and only had one call to a new apartment complex, wherein the caller didn't know the exact address, and then cancelled us before we got out of the rig. Which was nice, because it was pouring rain, and I hate getting my fur all wet.

This morning, Dana and I went to the funeral of a Chesterfield County Police Officer who'd been shot while responding to a residence last week. It really brought home that it could happen to any of us at any time. We wore our "dress" uniforms, which consist of white (short-sleeve) shirts with name badges and appropriate patches (US flag, VA EMT, and squad), duty pants and boots. We stopped off and picked up some ties as well, so now I am the proud owner of my very first clip-on tie. All I need now is a bicycle and a Book of Mormon and I can go annoy the neighbors.

And then we came home and released the hound, who in his usual after-shift-night manner had gone happily to his crate after we arrived home, and we were blessed that in the ensuing 6 hour delay before his breakfast, he felt no need to leave his an editorial. Such a good boy.

Oh, and Target's "Choxie" drinking chocolate is pretty darn nasty, which is strike two for that line of sweeties as far as I'm concerned. Life is too short to eat junk calories that don't taste any good. (and this after being over an hour early for the funeral, an hour in which we were VERY close to a Krispy Kreme, and did not go to visit). :(
