The auction for the NCAA tickets ended on Saturday without a buyer. Immediately after it ended, I got a private message from someone who wanted the tickets. eBay had decided to fuck with me, though, and refused to let me respond to ANY private messages, saying I had exceeded my limit for the day (I've only ever sent *one*, and it wasn't that day). I was able to track the guy down, but by that point he'd phoned his friends to see who wanted to go, and now needed three tickets. I left him my cell number, just in case, and relisted the tickets as a 1-day auction with a Buy It Now price.

Saturday evening, we went for sushi and to see "Movin' Out" with some friends from the squad. Now, I loves me some Billy Joel, but this was essentially sitting in a theatre (the very laaaast row) for a cover band with dancers. It was strange, but not horrid. Immediately after the show ended, we headed north to DC, and checked in around 1:30am. Still no email/call from that one guy.

In the morning, I had another private message from someone else (guy #2) -- I was able to reply with my phone number, and I called that guy and left him a message on his cell. By this point I smarted up, and put my email address in the listing in large red letters. About 3 hours before the game, I settled on a deal with a completely different guy than the others. He PayPaled the money, I ended the auction, and almost immediately I got a call from the second guy, who would have offered me more. Still, 100% of something is better than 0% of nothing, which was what I came very close to having.

(and yes, I know that the tickets cost ME nothing, so I wasn't going to be out anything but potential cash)

Dana and I had a LOVELY brunch at the Ritz -- it's been FAR too long since we've been there. Saw many old friends, ate very tasty food, and got nicely tipsy (and made reservations to come back for our anniversary). That led into my favorite sport, Drunken Shopping. Dana got some new shirts, I got new sunglasses, and we picked up a couple cigars as well. We drove around Arlington a bit, and rather than go up to Bethesda for dinner, we made a snap decision to hit the Italian Store for subs. We LOVE their subs -- it was a nice quiet evening in the hotel, relaxing and gorging ourselves further.

This morning, we met a friend of Dana's in Bethesda at our favorite Thai place, where I inhaled a lot of curry puffs and panang curry, before we pointed the car southward yet again.

And just now, I picked up A Dog at the vet's -- he was happy to see us, and very nice and clean from his bath! I took care of his rabies shot, his county license, and got three months worth of heartworm/flea/tick stuff. He is now sacked out on the floor in a big lump of happy contented shep.
