We do the work, so you don't have to!
Feb. 10th, 2006 10:03 amThis last month's Consumer Reports had an article about vitamins, and the revised recommended daily amounts for men and women. I ran out of my multivitamin (of course, this morning I found a second bottle in a drawer, so there you have it), so yesterday I sat on the floor of CVS with the printout from Consumer Reports, poring over all the multivitamin packaging.
Most multis have 4 and 5 times the RDA (which they admit), and the article advised against taking more than you need. It also gives a maximum safe amount, but they say if you aim for the RDA, then no matter what else you eat or drink, you should be safe.
The multi that comes closest to the RDAs for women? (sorry guys, I just didn't check for you)
Flintstone chewables. Today I had the Great Gazoo.
