I just started reading Neal Stephenson's Quicksilver, and am enjoying it mightily. And if I continue to enjoy it, there are 7 more books in the series.

I have liked nearly everything of his that I've read; The Diamond Age in particular.

Feh. It's 8 books just like LotR is 8 books. It's really only 3 big books.

But yes, great writer. Love all his stuff, even The Diamond Age which wasn't as well received, Cryptonomicon which is different, and kinda goes with the new Baroque Cycle (though only slightly), and Zodiac, which is lesser known.

I have definitely read Cryptonomicon, and I want to say I read Zodiac as well (eco terrorists?). The alcoholic bartender ex- was inordinately fond of Snow Crash, and a whole lot by Tim Powers (Last Call, Earthquake Weather, Expiration Date).
